Fascinators have become increasingly popular as an elegant alternative to a hat for special/formal occasions. such as Weddings, Christenings, Proms & garden parties, & also for a "Day at The Races"

Fascinators either feather or sinamay, (or a combination of both) are often favoured by Mother of the Bride/Groom, female guests of a bridal party, bridesmaids, & the bride herself, for a civil wedding/ceremony

They are an attractive solution for those ladies (myself included), who "cannot wear a hat" or find them unflattering for a particular outfit.

Fascinators come in a wide range of styles & sizes which can be worn comfortably for hours, & they also lessen the need to "fluff up" a hairstyle.

In most cases, when a hat is removed (ie after speeches at a wedding) a hairstyle is often flattened. A wasteful expense especially if you’ve been to the salon that morning!
